# Create a resource

> The five-step resource wizard, and why the context choice matters most.

Resource creation is a five-step wizard. The first step is the one that decides
how good the result is.

**1. Context**

**Standalone**, or **From Unit Plan**. See below — this is the important
one.

**2. Configure**

The settings for the [type you chose](https://docs.mesolab.ai/teachers/resource-types.md) — question
counts, quiz type, and so on.

**3. Generate**

MESO builds it.

**4. Review**

Read it before you keep it.

**5. Save**

It lands in [Resources](https://docs.mesolab.ai/teachers/your-library.md).

## Standalone or from a unit

This choice changes what MESO knows while generating:

| | **Standalone** | **From Unit Plan** |
| - | - | - |
| Knows your outcomes | No | Yes |
| Knows the topic and year group | Only what you type | Yes |
| Ties back to your teaching | No | Yes |
| Good for | One-offs, cover work, something outside your units | Anything supporting a unit you are actually teaching |

> [!TIP]
>
> If the resource supports a unit you have planned, choose **From Unit Plan**. It
> is the single biggest difference between a generic worksheet and one that fits
> the lesson you are teaching on Thursday.

## The Review step is not a formality

> [!WARNING]
>
> Read what you generated before saving it, especially anything with answers.
> Quiz keys, worked solutions and factual claims in worksheets need checking — an
> AI system states a wrong answer with exactly the same confidence as a right one.

## Where it goes

Saved resources collect in [Resources](https://docs.mesolab.ai/teachers/your-library.md), where you can
reopen, edit, print or export them.
