# Slides

> Build a presentation from a lesson or a topic.

**MESO Present** builds slide decks. A deck can come from a lesson you have
already planned, or from a topic on its own.

## Two ways in

| From | You get |
| - | - |
| **A lesson in a unit** | A deck that follows the lesson's objectives and sequence |
| **A topic on its own** | A deck built from what you describe |

A deck built from a lesson will be tighter, because it inherits the outcomes and
the sequence rather than guessing at them.

Presentation is also one of the eight
[resource types](https://docs.mesolab.ai/teachers/resource-types.md), so you can reach it from the
resource wizard as well as from Slides.

## Editing a deck

Decks are editable — reorder, rewrite, and adjust slides. As with everything
else MESO generates, the version worth teaching from is the one you have been
through.

> [!TIP]
>
> Generated decks tend to run long and even. Cutting slides is usually a better
> first edit than adding them — a deck that mirrors every objective is thorough
> but rarely paced well for a class.

## Before you present

> [!WARNING]
>
> Check anything factual on the slides — dates, quotations, formulae, worked
> examples. A slide is the worst place to discover an error, because the class
> sees it at the same time you do.
