Resources holds two things: what MESO has generated for you, and what you have uploaded yourself.

Generated resources

Everything you save from the resource wizard collects here. You can reopen a resource to edit it, and print or export it for class.

Documents you upload

You can upload your own material — schemes of work, past papers, notes — and MESO reads it so it can draw on it later.

What you can upload

There is a length limit of roughly 400,000 characters per document. That is far longer than any scheme of work or past paper, but it will stop an entire textbook.

What happens after upload

The file is stored, its text is extracted, and it is indexed so it can be searched. A document moves through pending → processing → completed, or failed if the text could not be read.
A scanned PDF with no text layer will extract nothing — the file uploads fine and comes back empty. If a document seems to be ignored, check whether it is a scan rather than a real PDF.

How search works here

Retrieval over your uploaded documents is full-text search, not semantic search. It matches on the words that are actually in the document. In practice: use the terminology your document uses. Searching for a concept in different words than the document uses will not find it, in the way a meaning-based search would.

Privacy

Uploaded documents are private to you. An administrator cannot read them — see Roles and visibility. The same rule applies as everywhere else in MESO: do not upload anything containing identifiable student data.
